AquaConSoil is a biannual event where scientists, policy and decision makers, and industry and engineering representatives come together to learn, share and participate in the sustainable use and management of soil, sediment and water resources. This year, and after a 4-year hiatus since the last Aquaconsoil due to COVID 19, the congress was held in Prague in 2023 with great attendance.
Topics of great scientific, social and environmental interest have been discussed, such as the recovery of water and soil resources in the context of the circular economy and the European Green Deal, the contribution of the soil-water-sediment system to the adaptation and mitigation of climate change, sustainable remediation, emerging contaminants and prevention towards zero pollution, water and soil in the digital world, tools, systems and thinking approaches to manage the complexity of soil-water-sediment systems that are sustainable.
INPROQUIMA researchers have given three oral presentations on the topic of sustainable remediation and towards zero waste: “Treatment of groundwater polluted with DNAPL by electrochemical oxidation”, “Recovery of surfactans and adsorbents in selective pollutants abatement in polluted soil flushing emulsions” and “DNAPL Extraction and Oxidation enhanced by Surfactant addition: LIFE SURFING PROJECT”, applied research with the LIFE SURFING Project, coordinated by the Government of Aragon and of which INPROQUIMA is a partner.
The Aquaconsoil congress has been an excellent forum for dissemination and networking.
